More about Shorewood HUGS
Shorewood HUGS is an amazing nonprofit women’s group that was formed in 2008 by 5 local moms. Now boating over 40 members, the group’s mission is to grant wishes for those in need. By hosting unique events such as the Hugs for Hounds Doggy Easter Egg Hunt, they are able to raise funds to support the wishes of community members. They have granted over 700 wishes already! Wishes included many amazing gestures such as: Blackhawks tickets and jersey, final touches to a daughter’s wedding, carnival passes for a boy who lost his grandmother and brother, porch swing for father with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, landscaping for a mother of 3 and so much more! Some of the other fantastic events they hold each year are: Hugs & Wishes Chocolate Ball, MS Walk, Relay for Life, Holiday Giving, Junior HUGS and Scholarships.
Do you know someone who could use a “HUG”? Wish criteria, eligibility requirements and the wish fulfillment process are all posted on the Shorewood HUGS website.
Is there an easier way to help make a difference in the life of another community member than the Hugs for Hounds Doggy Easter Egg Hunt? For what it costs you to enjoy a cup of coffee at Starbucks, you can come on out for a few hours of great fun, prizes, photo opportunities and bonding time with your dog. How can you say no to that?
If you can’t make the event, there will be other opportunities to make a difference! They also always graciously accept online donations at their home page.
